A Night Of Flamenco Dance And Spanish Culture To Benefit Area 405

Featuring the Talents of Anna Menendez, Edwin Aparicio, Richard Marlow, and José Oretea Montañao

AREA 405 highlights nationally celebrated Flamenco dancers and musicians in a traditional café style setting within the rustic character of our gallery.

Dancers Anna Menendez and Edwin Aparicio will be accompanied by the sounds of flamenco guitarist Richard Marlow and the unique vocals of José Oretea Montañao. AREA 405 is proud to host such a distinguished group of performing artists.

This benefit will help AREA 405 continue to produce and promote arts and cultural programming in Baltimore's Station North Arts and Entertainment District.

Doors open at 8:00pm with a Spanish tapas reception and cash bar featuring Spanish wines

Flamenco dance and music begins at 9:00pm

Artists Bios:

Anna Menendez is a flamenco dancer and Baltimore native based out of the Washington, DC area. Her recent credits include her solo performance accompanied by Manuel Barrueco and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in its "Symphony with a Twist" series. Other performances to Ms. Menendez' credit include performing with "La Truco Flamenco" at the Albeniz Theatre in Madrid, Spain, The Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage, The Library of Congress, and The Baltimore Museum of Art to name a few.

Edwin Aparicio is a flamenco dancer originally from El Salvador who lives and works in the Washington, DC area. Mr. Aparicio' credits include a national tour with "Romeria Flamenca", performances at The Kennedy Center, and The Washington Opera. In 2000 by special invitation, Mr. Aparicio was the featured artist at the renowned tablao, "Casa Patas" in Madrid, Spain, an honor rarely bestowed upon non-natives.

Richard Marlow is the most sought after flamenco guitarist in the Washington, DC area. His credits include performances at The Kennedy Center, The Kay Theater at The University of Maryland, and Wolftrap. He has been a featured soloist on the John E. Marlow guitar series and is a published artist of Rumbas Flamenca, a style of Spanish guitar music.

José Oretea Montañao is a vocalist originally from Cochabamba, Bolvia,. He came to the United States 3 years ago to pursue his musical career. After studying for over a year in Spain, Mr. Montañao cultivated a unique style of interpreting flamenco rumbas. He has appeared at The Carter Baron Amphitheater in DC,
