Rollergirl : A Retrospective

An exhibition by Internationally renowned Artist Rollergirl

Artist Reception: Saturday, May 12, 2007 7pm-10pm

Show runs: May 12 - June 17, 2007

Part of the Station North Arts and Entertainment District's 5th Annual Gotta Have Art

Area 405 is pleased to announce the first American retrospective of Internationally renowned artist Rollergirl. Born in The Czech Republic, Rollergirl studied in Montreal, Canada, and has been consistently creating works since the mid 1970's. From performance works in the height of the pop art scene to contemporary digital works, Rollergirl continues to fascinate her audience. Her knowledge and use of a plethora of media makes it difficult to categorize this multi-dimensional artist. She has been affiliated with such acclaimed art spaces such as The Contemporary Museum, The Fashion Institute of Toronto, and the Boulder Biennial.

In conjunction with the retrospective, there will be a Fashion Magazine Drawing Project organized by Magazine Stand-Baltimore for Rollergirl at Area 405 on Friday, May 19, 2007 between 6:30 and 11pm. In an attempt to create a new fashion magazine in one night, artists will copy the pages of current fashion magazines. Later these pages will be photocopied and compiled into a new fashion magazine. Billy Mode will conduct turntables with a special selection of music for all fashion professions.

This exhibition is free, open to the public, and handicapped accessible. For more information about the gallery or this exhibition, please call (410) 528-2101.

Area 405 is located at 405 East Oliver Street, Baltimore, MD 21202.

Gallery will be open Saturday, May 12th, from noon-10pm for Gotta Have Art

Regular galley hours are Sundays 12-3pm for the duration of the show
