RECEPTION: Saturday, September 14, 7-11PM
CLOSING/CURATOR'S TALK: Thursday, September 26, 7-9PM
This group exhibit of 19 artists explores nakedness lost and nakedness found, through the story of Creation and Paradise. It is also a story of separation: of creation from the creator, child from parent, art from artist - a necessary process which enables the “created” to live outside the garden.
The Knowing artists comprise a broad cross-section of Baltimore talent, both mature and emerging, reflecting Baltimore’s historical identity as an art incubator — a local “garden” of creativity. Their shared interest in the show’s themes result in a variety of viewpoints, media and expression of creation, parenthood, childhood, sexuality, nakedness, knowledge, separation, disobedience, deceit and expulsion.
Knowing is curated by Manian E. Chettle, and features an interactive sound installation of original music by Liz Downing and Michael Willis (Lurch and Holler) programmed by David Crandall.
Participating artists: Alzaruba, Annie Farrar, Becky Bauer, D.S.Bakker, David Fair, Dre Britton, Isabel Gonzalez, Jenna Boyles, Kini Collins, Laina d'Agostino, Laure Drogoul, Laurie Stepp, Mary Skeen, Nicole Fall, Oletha Devane, Ruth Pettus, Sam Christian Holmes.
The RECEPTION on Saturday, September 14 at 7PM will feature LIVE MUSIC (Lurch and Holler) as well as PERFORMANCES by artists Isa Gonzalez and Jenna Boyles.
The CLOSING on Thursday, September 26 at 7PM will feature a CURATOR'S TALK, as well as an encore performance by Jenna Boyles.
