Ekphrasis (from the Greek, meaning, to speak out or to call by name) refers to the written description of a work of art. This ekphrastic workshop is designed in response to Paradise Portals, a reality-bending video installation series which invites us into intimate spaces of trans pleasure, history, futurity, and engagement with the natural world. Writing on location in the gallery space at Area 405, we will explore the visual on the page through a series of generative prompts and exercises; together, we will ask how these works of art open portals in each of us, to new realms of creative expression.
